Date & Honey Halva Cake Roll

This old-time favourite is proof that it’s easy to eat healthy. Crunchy, sweet and full of good fats.


For the dough:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 100g butter
  • 1 pack baking powder
  • 3/4 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup canola oil

For the filling:

  • 1 cup chopped halva. 
  • 1/2 cup date syrup 
  • 100g chopped almonds
  • 3 tsp powdered sugar


  • For the filling; mix all filling ingredients in a large bowl, and set aside. 
  • For the dough; mix all the ingredients for the dough and divide it into 2 balls.
  • Wrap each ball with plastic wrap and place it in the fridge for an hour.
  • Roll out each ball 4 cm thick.
  • Place half of the filling mixture in each roll, and roll up to form a cake.
  • Heat your oven to 180 degrees celsius, place the rolls on baking paper, bake for 20 min. 
  • Let the rolls chill, and serve with sprinkled powdered sugar.
